HBO Max is the new streaming service that AT&T Inc-owned WarnerMedia is going to launch on May 27, and on Monday the company said that the new service will also be available on devices of Apple Inc from very first day of its launch.
HBO Max will be accessible through Apple’s mobile devices including iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Customers having Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K will also be able to access HBO max on their products while those having second or third generation of Apple TV models could stream HBO Max content by connecting their iPhone or iPad to TV sets using AirPlay.
The existing subscribers of HBO through Apple TV channels can log in to access and stream the new service app with no requirement of paying any additional charges, said the company, adding that new HBO Max customers will get a direct access to the app upon subscription.
AT&T had previously unveiled that some of its customers will be getting HBO Max without any payment at its launch, which is available to non-AT&T customers at monthly subscription charges of $15.
Warner Media is launching HBO Max in a much crowded streaming service market to rival players like Netflix Inc, Amazon.com Inc’s Prime Video and Walt Disney Co-owned Disney+ who have stronger and dominating position in that landscape.
HBO Max will also be accompanied with 10,000 hours of content from brands and libraries of owner WarnerMedia including New Line Cinema, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros with shows such as The Big Bang Theory, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Friends.
Within first year of its launch, HBO Max will feature a library of more than 2,000 feature films while 700 blockbuster films will become immediately available to audiences at launch through HBO as well as other films specifically acquired for HBO Max by Warner Bros.
